Boston Packaging Store Ships Shoes for the People of Haiti, joins Foot Solutions, both of Needham, MA.
“When I heard that 815 pairs of shoes had been collected for the people of Haiti, I realized that this project, initiated by my retail neighbor Foot Solutions, needed exactly what the Boston Packaging Store provides – Packaging, Palletizing, and timely Shipping.“ explains Paul Kontrimas, owner of Boston Packaging Store.
“815 pairs is a lot of shoes, which were packed in over 40 shipping cartons. We then staged the cartons on to two 4 foot x 3 ½ foot pallets. We shipped the pallets of shoes by LTL (Less than container Load) motor freight. The shoes were at their destination 3 days later.” states Kontrimas.
The destination was Roanoke, Alabama, which is the location of the Soles4Souls primary distribution center. “Our shipment was transferred to a container and then whisked off by air freight directly to Port o Prince, Haiti”. States Kontimas.
“I was personally very pleased to be able to help out”,explained Kontrimas,”I like to contribute my businesses resources on efforts that really make a difference.”
Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects new shoes from footwear companies and gently worn shoes from individuals. The charity distributes these shoes free of charge to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away over 10 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes.
